The eTape® is a solid-state sensor with a resistive output that varies with the fluid level (liquid or powder). It eliminates clunky mechanical floats and easily interfaces with electronic control systems.
When immersed, the eTape® sensor envelope is compressed by the hydrostatic pressure of the fluid. This results in a change in resistance that corresponds to the distance from the top of the sensor to the surface of the fluid. The sensor's resistive output is inversely proportional to the height of the liquid. Therefore, the lower the liquid level, the higher the output resistance. Conversely, the higher the liquid level, the lower the output resistance.
Our eTape® liquid level sensors, printed on flexible substrates, can be customized to facilitate a range of applications and unique form factors. The use of printed electronics permits the production of highly accurate sensors at a fraction of the cost of bulky mechanical sensors in wide use today.
